 Roy was trained as a Theatre Stage Manager before moving into Television at the BBC. He worked as a 3rd - 2nd - and 1st AD before starting to direct TV Situation Comedy.

He joined David Croft’s ( writer/producer of  “Dad’s Army”; “Hi de Hi” , "Allo Allo", etc. ) office as an 2nd Assistant Director; became 1st Assistant, then his Director.  He also  worked on “Victoria Wood – As seen on TV”, “French & Saunders” and “Rory Bremner” amongst others.

He formed his own company 'Water Lane Productions'.  This resulted in the award winning series of “The Booze Cruise” films with Martin Clunes and Neil Pearson, the first of which was the highest rated drama on UK television for nearly two years.

He was Executive Producer on the Australian Sitcom “Mother & Son” in Sweden and Denmark for Grundy Television. 


Recently he has written a novel "How to Deal with Sexual Deviation in a Small English Village" published through Kindle and working on various projects including developing his novel into a screenplay and writing a stage play.
